Lemur Audio SAMUEL is a console-style audio channel strip designed for shaping and processing audio signals with a combination of preamp saturation, gate, feedback compressor and four-band equalization. Software Overview

SAMUEL features a four-band equalizer with two shelving bands and two bell bands. Each band remains in the signal path, with the centre gain setting producing no tonal change. The LF band covers 30–450 Hz, while the HF band spans 1.5–16 kHz. The LMF and HMF bands cover 200 Hz–2.5 kHz and 600 Hz–7 kHz respectively, with adjustable Q values from 0.5 to 3.
Two range buttons extend the bell bands into different frequency regions. The LMF range can be shifted downward by a factor of three, while the HMF range can be shifted upward by a factor of three to reach approximately 21 kHz. Each equalizer band's gain range is ±17 dB.

Preamp Saturation: MIC and LINE

The preamp stage sits at the beginning of the channel strip. LINE mode maintains a cleaner high end while emphasizing warmth in the low frequencies, whereas MIC mode provides a broader and brighter tonal character. The drive control ranges from −12 to +24 dB.
The stage compensates its output level so that adjusting the drive primarily changes tonal colour rather than overall volume. Lower settings provide cleaner processing, while higher settings increase harmonic content.

Gate Controls and Signal Management

SAMUEL's gate provides a THRESHOLD range from −30 to +10, RANGE from 0 to 40 dB of attenuation and RELEASE from 0.1 to 4 seconds. A FAST switch controls the attack behaviour. The HYST control sets how far below the opening threshold the signal must fall before the gate closes again, helping reduce unwanted chatter on decaying drums and ringing sounds.
