Description
Many of us struggle with self-care in our relationships with others. Boundaries feel difficult to set, saying "No" feels challenging, and we often end up neglecting our own needs. At the root of this may lie a deeper issue: we may not truly know our own needs or have learned to deny them entirely. Perhaps, in our upbringing, it was safer not to need too much – attention, support, warmth – as unmet needs can be painful. But when we deny our needs and impulses, we block part of our potential, our vitality. We limit the life within us. Each time we act against ourselves to meet someone else's expectations, we abandon ourselves again, which can lead to poor mental well-being, depression, and resentment. In this bioenergetic program, we'll work on setting boundaries and accessing our inner strength. We'll explore giving ourselves permission to care for ourselves, to say "No" when we need to. And, on a deeper level, we'll uncover our needs and learn how to reach out to fulfill them. The result may be a release of accumulated emotions that we've unconsciously held back. Through body-based exercises, we'll learn ways to release these feelings, allowing us to feel more alive, connected to our potential, and more receptive to positive emotions. When we block negative feelings, we inadvertently block positive ones as well.In each session, we'll work toward:Revitalizing the body and embracing self-expression – Becoming comfortable with our voice, our emotions, and expression as we begin to release accumulated feelings. Our first session will also focus on grounding, building a stronger sense of self, increasing awareness, and self-confidence.Setting boundaries – Exploring the fear of saying "No," which can stem from a fear of rejection, abandonment, harm, or disappointing others. We'll connect with anger and practice saying, even shouting, "Enough!" or "This is too much for me!"Self-soothing and emotional release – Learning techniques to calm ourselves, process our feelings, and take care of our emotional needs.Understanding the impact of our past on our needs – By connecting with our inner child, we'll work with bioenergetic exercises to address feelings and experiences from our past that may interfere with our self-care today. Many of us learned to prioritize others over ourselves, and we'll explore this pattern to better support ourselves now.Reaching out to meet our needs – Practicing the simple but powerful phrases "I want" and "I need." We'll affirm our right to have needs and pursue their fulfillment. In the theory portion, I'll discuss why boundaries are essential in our lives and what affects our ability to set them. We'll explore how our relationship with our own needs shapes the quality of our close relationships – the less we allow ourselves to need, the more distant our relationships may become. Finally, we'll examine how our past influences our needs and, ultimately, the relationships we create.
