Grammar is the first part of the classical Trivium system; a system of learning and education utilised throughout antiquity which remains effective to this day.
Grammar concerns the "materials" or building blocks of a given subject. Hence, when we learn the Grammar of any subject we learn the basic elements that it consists of including the facts, data, terminology and basic skills with which we can use to build our understand or mastery with, whether that be mastery of a given subject or a discipline.
This is why Grammar is the first part of the Trivium. It sets the basic elements of meaning within the system and without it, we cannot proceed to connect, develop and use our understanding throughout our use of Logic and Rhetoric. Hence, Grammar sets the foundation for our learning.
Throughout this course you will learn what Grammar is and the main approached that we can take to it. You will discover and why Grammar applies not only to all languages but all forms of language whether that be English, Music or Mathematics. You will also gain an understanding of how we take basic elements of meaning such as words and begin to form them together to begin building systems and bodies of knowledge.
