Description
The course attempts to help the student to grow in a relationship with Jesus. It presents a brief introduction about the Beatitudes followed by lectures dedicated to each Beatitude, amongst which the student learns of how the Beatitudes can be lived in our daily lives and equips the student to be a witness of Jesus to the people he meets each day.
As the Beatitudes according to the Gospel of Matthew are the ones that are the most commonly known, this course will focus upon this version as indicated in Matthew 5:3-10. Furthermore, as each Beatitude consists of two phrases: the condition and the promise, this course will explain each of these two phrases in separate lectures, so that to emphasise that the Beatitudes presents a new set of Christian ideals that focus on a spirit of love and humility.
Overall, the aim of the course is to increase the students' knowledge about the Beatitudes and most importantly to empower the student to have a living experience of the Beatitudes. As the course will cover the eight Beatitudes which Jesus taught during the Sermon on the Mount, by the end of the course, students are expected to appreciate the beauty of life through the blessings of the Beatitudes.
