Forgiving Yourself
What if forgiving yourself wasn't about changing the past, but about learning to see the person you were with greater understanding and compassion?
Sometimes the person we find hardest to forgive is ourselves.
We can carry guilt, shame, regret, and self-judgement for years because of things we said, things we did, choices we made, or moments we wish we could go back and change.
But you are looking at the person you were then through the eyes of the person you are today.
Forgiving Yourself invites you to look deeper.
This course is a shorter, focused version of my fullForgiveness Course, bringing together the modules onForgiving Yourself andTaking Action.
Rather than judging yourself solely for what happened, you'll be invited to explore what you were experiencing at the time, the beliefs and judgements you had learned, and the person you were when those choices were made.
Module 1 – Forgiving Yourself
In this module, you'll begin exploring the experiences, choices, and actions you may still be judging yourself for.
We'll look at the judgements you hold about yourself and explore where those judgements came from.
You'll reflect on the idea that you were not born with these judgements—they were learned through your experiences, relationships, and the world around you.
You'll also be invited to ask
What was I going through at the time?
Instead of looking back through the eyes of the person you are today, you'll begin looking at the person you were then with greater curiosity, understanding, and compassion.

Module 2 – Taking Action
Forgiving yourself can also mean recognising when there is something you would like to do differently now.
In this module, you'll revisit your list and consider whether there is any action you feel ready to take.
Perhaps there is someone you would like to apologise to. Perhaps there is something you would like to acknowledge or take responsibility for.
You'll explore who an apology is really for, why it is okay if another person does not accept your apology, and why you cannot control another person's response.

Forgiving yourself does not mean pretending that everything you did was okay.
It means being willing to understand yourself more deeply.
It means recognising what you were experiencing, taking responsibility where needed, learning from your past, and giving yourself permission to stop punishing yourself forever for the person you once were.
You cannot change what happened.
But you can change the way you see, understand, and love the person you were.
Perhaps it is time to offer yourself the same compassion and forgiveness you so freely give to others.
