Description
This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.
Understand how the major systems of a modern aircraft work together to enable safe and reliable aircraft operation.
Modern aircraft are highly integrated engineering systems in which mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, electronic and software-controlled functions must work together. This course provides a structured introduction to the fundamental aircraft systems and the engineering principles behind their operation and integration.
We begin by looking at the aircraft as a complete system and introduce the fundamental principles that help engineers understand complex aircraft architectures. You will learn how aircraft functions are distributed across different technical systems and why dependencies between systems are essential to aircraft-level operation.
The course then explores the major systems found in modern aircraft. We examine flight control systems and the principles behind controlling aircraft motion, as well as the role of actuators, control surfaces and supporting system architecture.
You will also learn the fundamentals of aircraft electrical power generation and distribution, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, propulsion integration and environmental control. Avionics and information exchange are introduced from a system-level perspective to show how monitoring, communication and control functions interact throughout the aircraft.
Additional topics include landing gear, braking and other important aircraft functions that connect mechanical systems with electrical, hydraulic and control architectures.
Throughout the course, we focus not only on individual components but also onsystem interactions and dependencies. This systems perspective is essential because the behavior of a modern aircraft cannot be understood by examining each subsystem independently.
The course also introduces fundamental engineering concepts such as redundancy, system monitoring, failure considerations and the importance of maintaining essential aircraft functions when individual components or system paths are unavailable.
By the end of the course, you will have developed a structured understanding of the major systems found in modern aircraft and howflight controls, electrical power, hydraulics, avionics, propulsion, fuel and supporting systems work together at aircraft level.
This course is designed for engineering students, aerospace professionals, engineers entering the aviation industry, and anyone who wants to build a solid technical foundation in modern aircraft systems without requiring extensive previous aerospace knowledge.
