ROLI Equator2 is a software synthesizer and sound-design instrument built around multiple synthesis methods, detailed multisampling, flexible modulation, and an extensive effects system. It provides six source slots that can combine wavetable, granular, multi-sampler, and noise-based sound generation for creating layered instruments and textures.

Software Overview

ROLI Equator2 combines several synthesis engines within a flexible instrument architecture. Each patch can use up to six source instances selected from wavetable, granular, multi-sampler, and noise sources. The wavetable engine includes a library of bespoke waveforms, while the multi-sampler provides access to detailed sampled instruments.
The instrument contains 42 multisampled instruments with 220 articulations and variations. These include electronic instruments such as the Roland System-100 as well as acoustic sources such as the Sitar. Custom samples can also be imported through the supported drag-and-drop workflow.
Its modulation system provides multiple ways to introduce movement into patches. Expression curves, LFOs, multi-modulation modules, envelopes, mathematical modules, random modules, and macros can be assigned to parameters using the click-and-drag modulation interface.
Equator2 also provides a configurable effects and routing environment. Effects can be arranged and reordered through flexible slots, while filters and processors can be connected through different signal-routing configurations.
