reFX Rippler is a software synthesizer that combines modal synthesis with subtractive synthesis to create sounds without relying on samples. Its resonator-based architecture can produce a broad range of tones, including pads, strings, percussive sounds, and plucked instruments.
The synthesizer combines two oscillators and two filters with banks of resonators that model the behavior of different instruments. Bidirectional energy coupling between resonators adds dynamic interaction to the synthesis process, while extensive modulation options allow parameters to evolve during performance.
Rippler also provides two independent synthesis layers and a modular effects system. Each parameter can receive multiple modulation sources, and custom response curves can be created with Mod Mapping for more precise control over modulation behavior.

Software Overview

reFX Rippler uses modal synthesis to generate instrument-like sounds through resonator banks rather than samples. Its synthesis architecture combines these resonators with conventional subtractive synthesis, providing two oscillators and two filters for additional sound-shaping options.
The dual-layer architecture provides two independent synthesis layers with parallel and serial resonator routing. Energy can transfer in both directions between resonators, allowing the resulting timbre to change dynamically in response to playing.
Modulation is available throughout the instrument. Envelopes and LFOs can be assigned to multiple parameters through a drag-and-drop system, while Mod Mapping allows modulation responses to be shaped into linear, exponential, S-curved, or stepped curves.
