The fourth installment in our World Orchestra Series: PACHA Ethnic Orchestra
This collection showcases over 50 diverse instruments - including plucked strings, woodwinds, percussion, and sound design elements - that capture the rich essence of a true South American ensemble. Designed with authenticity in mind, it features advanced tuning controls and special performance tools tailored to the unique playing styles and tonal characteristics of each instrument.
Pàcha Ethnic Orchestra is the result of a collaboration between Strezov Sampling and Alejandro Fatur - a renowned multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and producer from Bariloche, Patagonia, Argentina - to ensure authentic representation and the highest quality throughout the recording process. An expert in South American music, Fatur brings a rich collection of traditional plucked, woodwind, and percussive instruments, all performed with deep proficiency. His work is rooted in expressive studio recordings, where he layers guitars, flutes, charangos, sikus, antaras, and more - much like a painter building texture and emotion on a canvas.
All the instruments are captured by two microphone positions - Close and Far. The library is split into four different categories for easier navigation. PEO contains:
- Plucked Strings (including chords and tremolo swells)
- Woodwinds (Legato and multiple shorts)
- Percussion (High/Low and phrases)
- Sparks (with controllable stems)
Plucked Strings Chords
This collection features 12 beautifully recorded, authentic string instruments. Recognizing their central role in song accompaniment, dance, and both ensemble and solo performance, we felt it essential to include a wide range of pre-recorded chord options.
Three chord types - major, minor, and dominant - are performed and presented in five distinct articulations:
- Chord Tremolo
- Chord Tremolo Swell
- Chord Sustains
- Chord Short
- Chord Strum
To ensure intuitive playability, the keyboard layout is color-coded and organized across three octaves:
- Purple - Major chords
- Blue - Minor chords
- Green - Dominant chords
The first four keyswitches are responsible for triggering normal sustains, staccato, mordent, trills (major and minor) followed by the 5 different types of chord performances.
Percussion
Being a huge part of South American musical culture, showcasing the region's drums and percussion properly is key for us. The mixture of African, indigenous and Hispanic roots is extensively represented. We've recorded 29 different percussion instruments, with high or low variation, hit by hand or with a stick, be it wooden or metal. (detailed info in the "Manual" below). This layout will be familiar to any user of our existing X3M percussion libraries.
