Westwood Instruments ROTOR - Solo Violin is a rhythm-focused solo violin library built around human-performed, tempo-synced performances. It combines expressive rhythmic loops with short articulations and flourishes, providing a flexible palette for cinematic, orchestral, and contemporary productions.
The library features 160 original violin rhythms that synchronize to the DAW project tempo while retaining the natural timing and character of the original performances. Additional shorts, flourishes, microphone positions, mixes, doubling, and built-in effects provide tools for creating rhythmic arrangements, melodies, textures, and transitions.

Software Overview

ROTOR - Solo Violin was recorded with violinist Henry Rankin and focuses on the rhythmic and constantly moving side of the instrument. The 160 performances are filterable by tempo, time signature, and playing feel, with support for 90, 120, and 140 BPM, plus 4/4 and selected 6/8 performances.
Four playing styles are included: Simple, Gentle, Lively, and Alternative. The library also provides 15 short articulations and 15 flourishes covering melodic and transitional material across the upper register.
The instrument was recorded in Studio Two at Nave Studios using classic microphones, vintage outboard, Neve and API preamps, a Calrec Q-series desk, and Apogee Rosetta 800 converters.
