Philly Disco: 70s Dance Floor Anthems from City of Brotherly Love is another high-quality budget compilation from Backbeats, a division of the U.K.'s Harmless label. Put together by Ian Dewhirst, the compiler behind the well-regarded Mastercuts label, this set features a dozen full-length and extended mixes of proto-disco and disco singles from Philly. Some of the inclusions were major hits. As with most other Backbeats releases, this will appeal to beginners and collectors alike since the price is cheap and the selection is expert level. Highlights include Teddy Pendergrass' You Cant Hide from Yourself, Jean Carns Was That All It Was, and the finale, McFadden & Whiteheads classic anthem Aint No Stopping Us Now.
