How did YOU end up at NASA?
I've heard this question many times. After all, at the age of 18 I couldn't speak a word of English, and my only job experience was managing a ranch in the Brazilian outback. The nearest town was 60 miles away on a dirt road, but I had heard on the radio about the Voyager spacecraft starting a grand tour of the solar system.
Fast forward 30 years and one of the color pictures in the book shows me in the Mars Yard at NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab in California. I am in front of the copy of the rover that I helped build and land on Mars.
