Music is powerful stuff and not to be trifled with. Through cataloguing this music, the author discusses its importance to him, through memories and anecdotes associated with each act / band. Inspired by the works of writers such as Giles Smith, and Stuart Maconie, it's a sort of thematically driven memoir from the perspective of an everyman; someone without any connection to the media or music industries, but who simply has a love for the medium.
Striking a balance between factual recounting and light-hearted reminiscing, "Musical Notes" has a narrative which is conducive to easy reading. By following a short set of basic ground rules, entries are concise and relevant, with the occasional interesting titbit thrown in for good measure.
"Musical Notes" does not assume that prospective readers will possess any special knowledge of contemporary music and instead tries to ensure that anyone, even those with only a passing interest in this subject, will find some levity within its pages. Additionally, the book's structure enables readers to dip in and out of its content as they might prefer.
