Now for the first time the defining features of each Ausfuehrung of the Pz.Bef.Wg. have been correctly identified and when significant modifications were introduced correctly sorted out. This has been made possible by over 40 years of research in private and public archives, chassis number analysis, and the assistance of friends sharing rare photos of Pz.Bef.Wg. with legible chassis numbers. A surviving Pz.Bef.Wg.Ausf.E allowed us to correctly draw the unique details on the turret roof. Hundreds of hours were spent precisely measuring surviving Pz.Kpfw.III components shared by the Pz.Bef.Wg. and original drawings of the Pz.Bef.Wg.Ausf.D1 chassis and Pz.Bef.Wg.Ausf.K turret were used to create five sets of new five-view 1/35 scale drawings.
