Deep brain stimulation (DBS), as an interventive neurosurgical procedure, has now advanced beyond the treatment of movement disorders and now covers epilepsy, pain, and psychiatric disorders, too. The textbook will serve as an overview of the field for novices, remind experts of where we have been and where we are going, and inspire further developments in this field.
